The crime s in India have been on the rise for the past decade . In such a scenario, women are also facing a rise in crime rates happening against them. The total crimes against women have seen a jump of almost 7000 from 2020 to 2022. Acc ording to the NCRB, most of these crimes are registered in the states while UTs hav e a minimal share .   Uttar Pradesh is the state with the highest number of crimes against women in India reaching up to 65000 , followed by Maharashtra and Rajasthan . The northeastern states have performed much better in making women feel safe and protected with a low rate of crime against them. Nagaland has the lowest number of crime s against women accounting for only 49 which is lesser than its previous year's statistics of 54 .         The Union territories have performed way better in favo u r of women.
